Reply Mallorie February 02, 2013 at 8:22 am How can I do this for my 5 year old? I want to make her and my husband matching ties for our church wedding and I can’t find a detachable tie (like your velcro) in most of my sizes. boy… Thanks for all the suggestions! Reply Christina Dennis February 06, 2013 at 9:52 am Hi Mallory! For age 5, I would add 2″ to the length of the strap and 1″ to the neck strap. I’m thinking of making a larger version of this pattern so I’ll let you know when I do. Thank you! 🙂 Reply Chrissy February 15, 2013 at 1:23 pm Hi Christina, Thank you so much for sharing this great tutorial! I wonder if it could be done with cotton instead of weaving? Should I secure it with a hidden piece of woven cotton? Thanks in advance! Chrissy Reply Christina Dennis February 15, 2013 at 10:03 pm Hi Chrissy – I think you could make this yarn with a knit fabric. If you want to make sure it looks sharp and lies flat, it should be covered with a woven fabric or some adhesive. If you don’t mind a floppy and casual look, it’s not worth it! Reply Bryanna March 20, 2013 at 9:54 am I made this with a friend and they loved it so much I got so many compliments. It’s the first thing I’ve sewn in over 10 years!
