Baby Santa Hat Crochet Pattern

Baby Santa Hat Crochet Pattern – After designing the Santa hat and the Candy Cane hat, I decided I needed a traditional Santa hat. My husband and I are surprising our kids with a trip to Disney in a few weeks, and I’m hoping we each get one of these hats to take pictures in front of Cinderella’s castle. I will be making each hat in a different color so I will share photos when I am done. Please tag me on Instagram or Facebook when you create yours!

Wrap the white yarn tightly and evenly around each bow. After the first set of bows, close them and then wrap the yarn around the second set.

Use a piece of white yarn to tie the pom pom in place. I recommend tying a double/triple knot.

Use hot melt glue to place a dab of glue in the center of the pom pom. This will help prevent it from unraveling.

I know everyone is busy this time of year, but I wanted to share this Santa hat I made in case you want to step up your Christmas cheer game! This was a last minute design (I literally finished it on Christmas Eve!) but I took the time and decided that a luxurious handmade Santa hat would be perfect to wear to all the celebrations this week. It has a thick pleated/double hem and a super fluffy pom pom. But it’s the cranberry yarn that changes my opinion of this hat, giving it a rich and classic Santa look.

Unfortunately, this post only contains sizing instructions for adults. However, this is a very simple formula that can be scaled up or down, so I’ve included a short explanation of how you can adjust it to your liking!

The hat is knitted from the edge upwards, starting from the rib. The zipper is very wide and then folded.

DO NOT DISCOVER the puller on the right side. You will leave the seam strips on the outside as the edge will be folded to cover them later.

Super Festive Crocheted Christmas Hats

Upsizing or downsizing is very easy. All you need to do is make sure the rib is the right length for the size you are sewing.

Here’s a handy and comprehensive chart to help you figure out what your puller length should be. The number in the second column “Hat Circumference” is the number you will use. Remember that the puller should be measured when it is not stretched.

Once you’ve figured out the correct rib length, join the short ends as usual and crochet evenly around them. Make a few lines. From now on, just decrease 3 stitches on every row every other row. You can use the line numbers above as a guide.

Winter is a good time for cold days, friends and lots of giggles. So what’s the perfect complement to all that Christmas cheer? A warm and silly hat, of course! This easy crochet beanie is the perfect Christmas gift for a new mum or dad and is incredibly quick to make. Even if you’re new to crocheting, give it a go! The only skills required are double crochet, circular crochet and sewing. This pattern is for a newborn long tail hat. Additional sizes of this hat can be found in this post.

This hat is designed in antique colors, dark and off-white to give a vintage effect. If you prefer bright red and white stripes, replace them with other shades from Caron’s ‘Simply Soft’ line or a similar weight yarn and it’s great!

This crochet pattern for newborns has three parts: body, headband and pom pom. Finally, you will sew the pieces together.

A note about the crochet stripes on this hat: the color change is complete by simply dropping the color and letting it hang until you need to pick it up again. To change the color, complete the round and remove the loop with the old color, then knit two chains with the new color and start the next round with a triple crochet with the new color. Aisles will look weird from the outside while working, but don’t worry. Before folding, you turn the whole thing inside out.

Chain 3 and join the first and third loops to form a magic loop. Ie 6 dc into the loop. Oh. and 2. i.e.

2.-3. row: Z (R), then knit with 6 stitches in each row. Drag to end the row, drop red and select white to chain 2.

4-5 rows: For (W), work 6 crochet stitches around each row. To complete the last row, drop (W) and lift (R) chain 2.

Rows 6-11: Repeat the steps for rows 2-3 and 4-5, changing the color of the rest of the hat.

16-27 rows: increase 3 crochet stitches in each row. In the 27th row, there should be a total of 42 stitches.

7th chain, start sc from 2nd chain. s to end of row and turn. Repeat until you have 42 rows. Be careful not to twist it, fold it in half and sew the ends of the rows together with a mattress or whip stitch to form a strip. Tie it all the way and leave a long yarn tail. Use this yarn to attach the headband to the body of the hat.

Align the inside top edge with the bottom of the hat body as shown in the picture. Sew them around and tie a knot at the end. Pull the strap down so that the seam is not visible.

When I make these, I choose a thick yarn for the pom pom because I like the way it looks and swings on the long tail of this cap. You can use whatever yarn you like best.

Cut a strand (T) about 7-8 inches long. Take the ball (T) and wrap the yarn (but not too tightly) about 25 times around your hand. Pull the thread through the bottom of the tassel between the 3rd and 4th fingers. Pull it tight and tie it twice. Tie it tightly and hold the long threads of the tie – you will use them to form the pompom and attach it to the hat.

Create a pom pom by holding the longer strands and cutting them into a ball. Rotate it in all directions and cut gradually. (Learn more about pom pom crafts here.)

Find the magic loop you created at the beginning. Slide the crochet hook under the magic loop between the six stitches you created. Thread one of the long strings with a crochet hook. Secure with a double knot using long pieces of yarn, then cut them to the length of the remaining threads in the pom pom.

* Note to Mom – Because of the long tail, it is not recommended to leave your baby in this hat for naps or when you cannot supervise them. * Christmas is coming! Even less than 2 months! If you or someone you know is expecting a new little accessory this Christmas, I think this would make a great photo prop from the first photo.
