Apa 6th Edition Title Page – A title page is required for all APA style documents. There are student and professional versions of the title page. Students should use the student version of the title page unless their teacher or school requires the use of the professional version. The student title page includes the article title, author name (signature), author affiliation, course number and name to which the article is submitted, teacher name, assignment due date, and page number, as shown in this example.

Place the heading three or four lines below the top edge of the title page. Center it and make it thick. Capitalize the main word of the title. Place the main heading and any subheadings on separate double-spaced lines, if necessary. There is no maximum length for titles; however, focus on the title and include key terms.

Your essay should be printed double-spaced on standard size paper (8.5″ x 11″) with 1″ margins on all sides. Include a page title (also known as a “running title”) at the top of each page. . For professional articles, this includes your article title and page number. For student work, this includes only the page number. To create a page header/footer, enter page numbers from right to left. The 7th edition of the APA Publishing Guidelines requires that the font chosen be accessible (ie, readable) to all readers and that it be used consistently throughout the article. He acknowledges that many typeface variations are valid and advises authors to contact their publishers, educators or institutions for guidance when in doubt.

Although the APA Guide does not specify a single font or set of fonts for professional writing, it recommends several widely available fonts. This includes sans-serif fonts such as Calibri at 11pt, Arial at 11pt and Lucida Sans Unicode at 10pt, as well as serif fonts such as Times New Roman at 12pt, Georgia at 11pt, Computer Modern at 10 point size.

Notes. APA 7 offers slightly different guidelines for formatting the title page of professional papers (such as those intended for scholarly publication) and student papers (such as those submitted for high school or college credit).

The title page should show the title of the article, the name of the author and the organization. A professional article should also contain an author’s note. Student documents must also include the course number and title, the instructor’s name and the assignment due date.

Enter the title in uppercase and lowercase centered on the top half of the page. Titles should be centered and bold. APA recommends that your title be clear and concise and contain no abbreviations or words that serve no purpose. Your headline can span one or two lines. All text on the title page and the rest of the article should be double-spaced.

Under the title, enter the author’s name: first name, middle name (initial) and last name. Do not use a title (Doctor) or degree (Ph.D.).

Under the author’s name, enter the institutional affiliation, which should indicate the location where the author did the research.

Professional articles should include a note about the author under the institutional affiliation at the bottom of the title page. This should be divided into several paragraphs, with any unrelated paragraphs being omitted. The first paragraph should contain the author’s name, the ORCID symbol and the ORCID URL. Any author without an ORCID ID should be excluded. The second paragraph should indicate any change in affiliation or death of the author. The third paragraph should include any disclosures or acknowledgments such as study registration, open practice and data sharing, disclosure of related reports and conflicts of interest, and acknowledgment of financial support and other assistance. The fourth paragraph should contain the contact information of the respective authors.

Again, note that the page title/page number (described above for professional and student papers) also appears at the top of the title page. In other words, the title page of a professional paper will include the title of the paper on the left in all caps and the page number on the right, while a student paper will only have the page number on the right.

Start a new page. Your abstract page should already include a page title (described above). On the first line of the abstract page, center and bold the word “Abstract” (no italics, underlines, or quotation marks).

Starting on the next line, write a summary of the main points of your research. (Do not indent.) Your abstract should contain, at a minimum, the research topic, research question, participants, methods, results, data analysis and conclusions. You may also want to include possible implications for your future research and work that you think are related to your findings. Your abstract should be one double-spaced paragraph. Your abstract should normally not exceed 250 words.
