Anime Side View – Here’s how to draw an anime and manga side view face/head that’s easy to draw with the most amazing results. Adjust the build guidelines to achieve different types of anime faces. See and compare how different guideline spaces affect the resulting manga face. Think of the construction guidelines as basic guidelines for the bones of the anime head you’re drawing. Regardless of how the lines are divided relative to each other, always place each part of the face (such as eyes, nose, mouth) in its direction.
How to draw anime and manga faces and heads in side profile view in easy step by step drawing tutorials
Anime Side View
In drawing faces and heads, in any style (be it manga and anime, cartoon, illustration, or anything else), profiles help us understand the great differences in human heads. In manga and anime style drawing, drawing a side view of a face is often the most fun thing to do. In this way, we can really know and know the face of the character we are drawing. The shape may vary, but any shape in the side view certainly affects everything that can be seen in the front view. So, to get to know a person better, take a look at the person’s profile.
Anime Boy (side View)
Below you will find simple Manga and Anime style drawing tutorials for drawing a human face in profile (side face).
You can start the face profile display with a simple circle. The circle shape is perfect for drawing Anime/Manga faces and heads.
Now draw a horizontal line through the center of the circle. Now you have 2 parts of the circle. Cut the bottom half of the circle in half horizontally again. Also draw a horizontal line below the circle. See the picture above if I’m confusing you.
Now draw a line down the center of the circle vertically (up and down). And draw a horizontal line to the left of the middle horizontal line down to the left of the 2nd horizontal line…and keep it moving until it passes the third horizontal line.

Now we have all the guidelines to start drawing Manga / Anime faces in profile view. You can see that the diagonal line we have drawn is a guide for you to place your forehead and chin line. On the 2nd horizontal line is where the curve of the nose begins. Below the horizontal line is where the lips begin. And you can draw your anime character’s ear between the 1st and 2nd horizontal lines, facing the back of the circle. Draw a curve from the ear to the bottom of the chin. And draw the head up in the first circle.
Now draw the eye behind the diagonal line, between the first and second horizontal lines (same space as the ear).
Now fill in the details of the eye. We don’t have a tutorial for profile eyes yet, but we have 2 tutorials for eyes (Draw female eyes) and (Draw male eyes)… this can help you draw the details of the eye.. basically, draw a big oval for the eye, fill it in, except for the oval emphasis in the upper right corner of the eye). Darken slightly towards the upper lashes.

In this post I will show you how to set guidelines for drawing an anime head in side view. I will briefly talk about how to change the proportions to draw the best anime head, in chibi style.
Let’s get to it! Note that this is how I create guidelines for my drawings. Different artists will have different ways of creating their directions, some may be able to release everything!
First, as always, draw a circle. Then draw a straight line in the lower left or right corner of the circle, where the head will be facing. Now decide where you want the bottom of your chin to be on your head. If you draw a mature head, the beard will be long; if you are drawing a young person, the beard should be short. in this example I am drawing a young woman, so the beard is very short.
How To Draw Anime And Manga Mouths Side View
Then draw a horizontal line down the middle of the head (between the top of the head and the bottom of the chin. This line will be above the eye
Draw another horizontal line between the top of the eyes and the bottom of the chin, this guide is under the nose.
Draw a slightly horizontal line on the face from the vertical line, this line should cross the lower line of the chin and eyes. Add a small inner curve around where the eye is. The intersection between the guide at the bottom of the chin and the straight line will be where the top of the chin meets.
From the bottom of the chin, draw a line outwards roughly as shown in the image below. Use the guide to add to the nose. Connect the bottom of the dip with the tip of the nose. The tip of the nose touches the guide. The floor of the nose touches the guide of the floor of the nose. The shape of the nose and the angle of the guide may vary depending on age, gender, preferences, etc.

Add another horizontal line between the bottom of the nose and the chin, this is a guide for where to place the mouth. The mouth should be slightly above this direction. When adding the mouth shape, make sure that only the tip of the upper and lower lips touch the corner guide.
Insert the eye, the tip of the eye should be close to the direction we made earlier in the middle of the head.
Draw another straight line down the center of the circle, this will be a guide for placing the ear. The ear is almost between the eyebrows and under the nose.
Finally, add hair to the neck, drawing a side view of the anime head! Remember that hair has volume. I put a space between the hair and the head. In the neck, it doesn’t go straight down, it’s an angle.
How To Draw Manga
In cute chibi style heads, the area under the eyes will be very short and the features will be very round and therefore beautiful. The eyes should also be bigger.
