You can… A few weeks ago I shared a printable Jonah and the whale coloring page and today I’m finally going to share more Jonah and the whale activities for kids.
I tried to create a few different activities to help your little ones learn the story of Jonah from the Bible and also practice some skills at the same time.
UPDATE: A kind reader recently pointed out to me that the verse I have on the coloring page is actually Jonah 2:2. I’ve corrected it in the actual PDF, so your coloring page you download will have the correct reference, but the images in this post will still show the wrong reference.
The Jonah and the whale coloring page is also included in this pack of printables. Children can draw details like sea animals and algae and then color the rest of the image.
Jonah And The Whale Craft And Snack
Some of the activities are geared more toward preschoolers, such as handwriting practice, counting exercises, and letter tracing exercises.
Some other activities are more for older kids, like the story order page. I love doing these pages together as a class so we can review the sequence of events in the story.
Simply have them cut out the images on one page and then work together to line them up on the other page. Once we have figured out the order together, they paste it on the blank page.
This coloring page is free for personal (non-commercial) use. You can use it at home, in the classroom, or in Sunday school.

Please let me know if you have any questions as I’d love to help! The biblical story of Jonah and the great fish (also known as Jonah and the whale) is a common story. Most kids who have spent any time in church, Sunday school, or vacation Bible school have heard the story. Jonah and the Big Fish Paper Plate Craft is great to use as a lesson
Jonah has his own book in the Bible, but the story of Jonah and the big fish can be found in Jonah chapters 1 and 2.
Paint the paper plate with gray paint. Add navy blue paint and mix the colors so that the paper plate is a mixture of gray and navy blue. Let the paper plate dry completely.
Use the glue to attach the triangle to the back of the paper plate. This is the trunk. The point of the triangle should stick to the back of the plate so that the larger edge of the triangle is furthest from the paper plate.

Draw Jonas on the white paper. Don’t make it bigger than the mouth of the big fish. Hopefully you or your child will be much more artistic than I am. A stick figure is the best I could do.
Cut a rectangle out of white paper. It should be wide enough for the wooden stick to pass through.
