Bring the cake with a candle (or just a candle). Light the candle and watch it melt. You can also make a small fire. Make sure you and your child are safe and follow all local safety laws. Ask your child what happens to the burning object. Explain to the child that fire will consume a candle or object because fire burns things. Explain that it will be a miracle if something doesn’t burn.

Explain that impossible means something cannot be done. Ask the child if he thinks anything is impossible.
Tighten the lid of the container filled with the treatment. Ask the child to open. If the child cannot do it on his own, offer to help. Place the child’s hand
While opening the jar together. Even if the child cannot open the container on his own, do it, you can succeed together.
Remind the child that God is very powerful and that there is nothing He cannot do. Tell them that only God can help us do things that we cannot do on our own, such as loving our enemies or forgiving people who have wronged us.

The first 15 minutes of our 45-minute Sunday morning class is devoted to exploration stations that connect to our big idea. Our Moses unit is no different!
On the top shelf of our library, there are books about Moses, and it’s easy for our little students to pick them up and read them next to the pillow!
Burning Bushes — On This Day Designs
Week 1: Baby Moses Hands down, our favorite part of the week was our Float the Nile game! This was great comprehension practice for our pre-schoolers and they loved “swimming” baby Moses! 🙂
Week 2: The Burning Bush This week we learned that God is powerful enough to use a burning bush to speak to us!
I had no idea how my 3 and 4 year olds would do traditional paper crafts, but they did great! Even my youngest boys could do it after I showed them once! And they loved it and asked for more pieces to cover the fire!
Weeks 3 & 4: Plagues We spent two weeks talking about the plagues of Egypt… even though my SS curriculum guide only says one week. That’s a lot to cram into one week! The first week we talked about all the pests, but focused on frogs!

I also thought there were frog stickers and was in a panic when I realized there weren’t. Then, at the last minute, I punched green construction paper for the frogs. JA… all laughs! As if they had real frogs on the table or something! Sometimes our Plan Bs are just as good or better, right? 🙂
In the second week of the plague, we focused on Pharaoh’s possessions and how long God’s power took to save His people… God never gave up on us! We matched the pictures with the words. I pre-cut the circles to make them faster. And we worked on finding the first letter of the words that match the pictures!
Week 5: The Red Sea We had so much fun with our Red Sea craft! When I set everything up, they painted Moses. Then I added glue stick to the “path” part of the image and the kids pinched sand on each one. We poured the extra spin into the sand container and we have dry soil!
Then we used puff paint (equal parts shaving cream and Elmer’s glue and blue food coloring) to paint the red sea walls on either side of our dry land!

Week 6: The 10 Commandments In the last week of our study of Moses, we learned how God used His power to speak to the Israelites and write on tablets of stone with His finger! As YHVH (God) revealed his plan to Moses, we have the full genealogy of Moses and Aaron, with Aaron leading him with the Egyptian priests, followed by the first 7 plagues.
Our weekly study plans are designed to make Bible reading a meaningful experience. Each activity is designed to bring the Bible to life and stimulate interest and conversation. For this week’s adventure, we have a prep plan that includes a grocery list, a partial pest-themed menu (I didn’t want to spoil my appetite, so it was a challenge!), a printable map to track and visualize the surrounding geography there is this. Egypt, a discussion question paper to engage the conversation, and a craft to create while studying to fully understand the depth of the destruction. We hope these tools encourage and inspire you to deepen your family Bible study time!

I don’t think they fully understand how YHWH (God) has brought down a nation that mistreats its own children. This activity balances your family with His mercy and protection without questioning His power and wrath. Sometimes the old, well-tried ones are the best. I love that this fire crosses different age groups by changing its style.
(I know it’s tempting, but don’t use a fabric rotary cutter for this. Buy a paper rotary cutter. One for fabric only and one for paper only, both cutters will last longer and look good works. Just tell me.)
2. Using a rotary cutter, cut the fabric into 9 x 9 inch squares. Every child needs a frame of any color.
Class Instructions: 1. Ask each child to draw and color a bush on the outside of the glass.

For younger children (kindergarten): layer yellow, orange, and red fabric so that the corners change.
For a little older (grades 1 and 2): ask them to cut the paper into pieces and stick them inside the cup.
For even older kids (3 and up): let them cut fire shapes around each piece of fabric.
