All popular YouTubers have one thing in common, which is a consistent and recognizable YouTube aesthetic. YouTube banners and channel art express your brand personality, channel content, who you’re targeting, and where you can find it on other social media platforms. Whether it’s a lifestyle, travel, gaming, review, prank or artist YouTube channel, banners can give viewers a glimpse of who you are just by using colour, text, images and style.

When creating a YouTube banner, keep in mind that the banner will appear differently on the YouTube mobile app and on desktop. Follow the recommendations below to ensure that your YouTube banner displays correctly on all devices.

There are no restrictions when customizing your channel art, just be sure to follow the YouTube banner rules. Content creators can add text, images, color schemes, emoji, and easy-to-view buttons. If textual elements are important on the channel’s logo, be sure to place them in the safe area. Creators don’t need to add text to YouTube banners, but here are some suggestions:
There are no restrictions on the number of times you can change your YouTube channel banner. If you’ve changed the look of your YouTube channel, feel free to create a new channel art that matches your new style. Update the images or text as often as you like, for example, if you launch new products, add the launch date.
You can still upload YouTube banners that exceed YouTube’s recommended banner size guidelines, but they may be unpleasantly cropped and not show clearly.

You can upload or edit your channel’s banner image from a web browser or the YouTube mobile app. Let me show you both ways.
How To Create An Aesthetic Youtube Banner For Your Channel
To add a new desktop banner image, you will need to click the “Customize Channel” button on your channel page.
You can then upload a banner image from your computer to get to the banner image customization screen below.
Here you can display parts of your photo that can be viewed on all devices, both desktop and TV. You can crop the logo image by clicking and dragging. And resize it using the square handles in the corners. Once the image looks the way you want it to on your devices, tap Done.
Once you have a banner image, you can change it at any time by hovering over it and clicking the pop-up camera icon in the upper right corner:

Note: If you have removed the banner image, it may take some time to remove it from the channel.
Note that the YouTube mobile app only allows you to edit your channel’s profile picture right now. I couldn’t find the option to edit channel art after downloading the YouTube Studio app (available on both the App Store and Play Store).
I will update the article once YouTube brings back the option to upload your own banner image from mobile phones.
The crop editing option was once available in the classic Creators Studio, which has now been discontinued by YouTube. You now have the option to customize your logo image and look at the visible area of the logo image on all devices. I already showed you a screenshot of how it looks in the last section, but here’s another example:

Your channel art is like the cover art or title art on YouTube – similar to what you see on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Here are some tips for creating a compelling idea:
Channel artwork works in conjunction with the channel’s profile picture (or channel icon) to communicate the brand’s identity. So don’t design artwork in isolation – it needs to complement your icon.
If there are multiple characters running the channel, including them in the channel graphics may work as well. As for the channel icon, it could simply be your logo. Dude Perfect is a great example of this. This is their profile picture:
When designing your channel graphics, make sure not to include important branding elements in the bottom right corner. External links (such as your social media profiles and your website) that you add to your channel appear here.

Katherine Manning runs a YouTube channel about her personal brand. Therefore, she uses a group of her photos and her signature in the center of the channel image.
But the content of the image in the lower right corner is some red shapes that don’t convey any message. She makes sure her website icon and social media icons can live comfortably in the corner.
When a viewer visits your channel page, they are generally curious about you. So sharing links to external sites here gives them additional context about you. It’s a good idea to cross-promote your other social media profiles and your website here. For example, Veritasium shares links to its Patreon, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages.
You can even add a subscription link between them and get more subscribers. Ahrefs do it on their channel:

For some media links, YouTube automatically caches its code. For example, adding an Instagram link below will automatically capture the app’s icon to display in the channel art.
Icons that come with external links to your website or even other platforms may look unprofessional. Better Than Yesterday used a link to the Buy Me A Coffee profile to raise money, but its symbol is a globe:
This can confuse visitors to your channel page because it provides no context for what they will see when they click on the link. While you can use descriptive anchor text for links like “Support My Work”, you can also change this code – for your site at least.
You just need to upload the favicon.ico file to the root of your website directory. If you don’t have one, create one here by uploading an image that matches your branding. For example: Marley uses the “M” (recognizable to her viewers) as a favicon for their clothing site, so it also appears on the image link from the channel.

In the channel art template they share, Google defines a safe area for your channel art where you should place important branding elements.
This is an important area because none of the information you put here will be cut across devices — even on mobile phones, YouTube will shrink it to fit screen widths.
