I shared this post years ago when my kids were young. I love looking back at the fun things we did to fill our days while teaching our kids the alphabet! I recommend doing sensory, artistic and fine motor activities with preschoolers because they are fun. These activities provide an opportunity to develop language and other early literacy skills. However, remember that research shows that direct exposure to letters and sounds is the most effective way to teach and learn letters.
Of course you can use paper for this, but to mix it up I cut some square pieces for the boys, it was fun not to stick to the igloo frame I drew on their paper. To make it more challenging, older kids draw a frame and cut out the squares. If you are there to get your hands on it, this will be a beginner craft for your child.

Can you guess what it is without a name? Do you know how we made grass? I love this idea from preschool. We dipped plastic pins in tempera paint to stamp the grass. When it’s dry, stick the construction paper inch worms. Teach a lesson, first put the worm. I think that’s the best way. My three older kids (2, 4, 5) loved it.
