. It’s an unlikely combination, but the songs they’ve released so far — like the crunchy single “Gunshowers” — show an exciting nod to ’60s funk. They take it even further in the video above for the song “Ray Gun” featuring MF. Doom, but in the star is the rapper Odd Future Left Brain.
Directed by Rob Schroeder of Lodger Films, the video is set in a retro-noir city full of neon strip clubs, low-riders, tarot cards, gold teeth for currency and dead-eyed ladies. Left Brain, wearing a mask that looks like a robotic, less skeletal version of MF Doom, plays “The Mask”, a stoic alien with a ray gun and a hero complex.
For almost five years now. During an AMA on Reddit last year, Ghostface said the album would be released in 2015. Until then, “Ray Gun” is a reminder that Doom’s double rhymes are the perfect contrast to Ghostface’s staccato. It looks like Ghostface Killah and Mayer Hawthorne will be playing The Rock on October 13th. The show is presented by the Rialto Theatre, according to its Facebook page. Tickets are on sale this week.
