3. Open the Knife Tool and draw a slanted line between the butterfly’s body and wings.

4. Then, moving towards the body of the butterfly, slice the wings starting from the side grooves. (If you want to run the cut line along the segments, you can wait until you put the segments back in place in step 6.)

5. Place the cut pattern of the butterfly wings on the background layer. Double click on each section. and we customize every segment.

6. After double gluing the segment, adjustment boxes will appear. Just click and drag them to the desired location. We wanted to draw each section closer to the edge of the wing.

8. Now adjust the size of the butterfly so that each section fits in the 8″ x 11″ cut out window. Turn on Print & Cut in the Page Setup panel.

1. We printed our wings on four sheets of shrink plastic and placed the individual wing parts on the sheet. For the middle part, the head and body were printed on two separate sheets of shrink plastic.

2. We wanted the butterfly to be as large as possible when it was finished. Remember that shrink plastic shrinks to about 1/3 of its original size.

3. After printing the sheets, place each sheet on the cutting mat and cut out using your Silhouette machine using the plastic shrink settings.

4. Once the leaves have been cut, carefully remove the pattern from the grid Silhouette background. Be very careful as the shrink plastic can tear easily if you move it too quickly.

1. Place the shrink wrap printed side up on parchment paper and heat according to the instructions on the shrink wrap. Remember that different ovens affect the results of the shrink wrap differently, so we recommend using leftover shrink wrap to check that the oven temperature is set correctly.

3. Now we use a false line to add the look of stained glass. We found ours here. Trace around the orange parts of the wing.
