Things I Am Thankful For – November and Thanksgiving seem to make everyone a little more thankful for the things they have. I think this time of year reminds people to stop and look at the things they have instead of the things they don’t have. Many families get together on Thanksgiving and sometimes share what they are most thankful for. Take it a step further this Thanksgiving with this free printable “Thank You” list.
This list will have you and your family write down the things you are grateful for using the letters in “Thank you”. Correct a word or phrase on each line and make sure it starts with the right letter. This is a fun way to help everyone focus on the things that mean the most to them. This is simple enough that even children can participate. When everyone is ready, each day share your answers.

This is also a great activity for children to complete and save as a souvenir. It’s always fun to look back at the things they said when they were younger. Be sure to write their name and year on the back so you can remember when this happened.

I collect my children in the classroom library and have two special helpers of the day pass a large white paper on each student’s desk.
Gratitude Affirmations For Building A Thankful Life
I have my own white paper on the easel and I draw two brown circles on my paper. I sent them to the office to do the same. When they return, I show the students how to draw 5 large pens and then I send them to their seats to do the same. It is important to make the pens as wide as the paper fits (so they can write clearly). Then they write in the bottom circle, “I am grateful for…” and draw on some little feet.
Then I gather everyone again and explain that on each pen, they will write something they are grateful for. I wonder if there is anything else they would like to add to the list and do so at this time.
Model for students to write on pens and white pencils. It is important that letters are written clearly – as cleanly as possible.
Then comes the fun! Once the students have written what they are thankful for for each pen, they are ready to take some watercolors and paint each pen in whatever color they choose. Here are some of my favorite quotes today, “It’s like magic!” and, “It is like uncovering a mystery.”
