As an adult, I find writing quite easy. But trying to teach your kids to write is a whole other story. Writing is such a personal endeavor. Whether you are an adult or a child, it takes a lot of courage to come up with written words on a page.

So if we can fit all that writing into it, it should be fun, right? I have my own little arsenal of ways we make writing fun in our house. Buttons like these comic book templates are a wonderful addition to blank books like these. They’re kind of like an advanced version of a long-lasting sketchbook! We use rubber cement and put these comical templates right inside.
My kids really enjoy working this way because it takes the stress out of “destroying” a page of their special book. They work on their page and only put it in their book when they are satisfied!
I made these comic book printables to fit the idea of a writing teaching sequence. I have one child in particular who is very spatially oriented. Seeing his paper divided into spaces allows him to rework his story sequence or direction.
The same kid loves graphic novels. Allowing him to write in a way that mimics the literature he currently loves seems like a great way to instill a love of writing.

As a former public school art teacher, I’m always thinking about how to incorporate art these days. Art doesn’t have to be the classic museum that hangs on the wall, look but don’t touch art I learned about as a child. My favorite is showing kids that art is all around them in forms they may not even recognize, like graphic novels. Introducing the idea that people pursue creative careers like graphic design for a living is a seed I want to plant in my little people.
These comic book templates are the perfect introduction to comic book graphics and art. They are free to print and all your child needs to get started is a black fine tip marker and any way to add a little color. Fine tip markers like these are great for these pages and more!
One thing I’ve learned as a homeschool mom is that not everything has to be a “lesson.” Don’t ask me how long it took me to figure it out. I tried so hard to squeeze learning into every corner of the day that I drained the wonder out of it.
If your kids love to draw and write, don’t miss these free printable journal pages. Two ten-page PDF files are available for free – with graph paper for elementary and middle school!

I am often asked what paper I recommend. For regular copy paper, this 5-pack paper case is one of the better deals. As for cardstock, I really like this cardstock paper on Amazon. It’s much cheaper than what I’ve found in stores and is a good thickness for most projects without being so thick that it clogs the printer.

Comics become part of life’s journey from childhood to adulthood. Many stories are featured in comics. Men tend to like comics with adventure stories, while women tend to like stories that involve a lot of feelings. Therefore, you can search for story ideas to start a comic. This will be the main attraction of the comic. Then design the panel layout and start painting. It seems simple, but you need a formula to organize each part of the comic to make it interesting to read.

Panels are layouts that exist in the comic. The purpose of the panel layout in the comic is to ensure that the images in each panel are a good size to be seen. Therefore, the ideal number of panels per comic page usually consists of 5-9 panels. The more panels you create, the smaller and heavier the image will be. So adjust the story on each page using the ideal number of panels.
To create a comic book layout, you need to know what a storyboard is. In the script, you estimate the size of the image you will draw in the comic layout. Storyboards usually use drawing paper and you draw them with a pencil like a sketch. When you’re done with the script, you can resize the layout to match the size of your drawing. Layout can be
