Easy Reindeer Ornament Craft
I don’t know about you, but I love putting handmade ornaments on the tree from my little one. Forget matching, color-coordinated jewelry. Homemade ornaments make me smile so much that I carefully hang them from the tree year after year.
That’s why I love preparing with my baby. If you’re looking for more ideas, you might be interested in our DIY Grinch Ornament, Popsicle Stick Snowman Ornament, or Sesame Street Ornament.

For example, if you don’t have pipe cleaners, make horns out of construction paper or card stock. If you don’t have evil eyes, pull your eyes towards you. You get the idea. Make them yourself using what you have on hand.
1. Arrange seven small popsicle sticks together. Cut a large popsicle stick in half and glue the top and bottom together. Allow the glue to dry completely before proceeding to the next steps. Feel free to use hot glue if your kids are helping. It dries better and faster.
2. Rotate the popsicle sticks. Paint the front side brown and let the paint dry. Flip the popsicle sticks and color the back as well. Let it dry. You can use lighter and darker browns to make the ornaments look different or make them the same color.
3. Cut a brown pipe cleaner in half. Fold one half into a V shape. Attach the other two pieces to each side of the folded in half pipe cleaner. Glue the horns to the back of the popsicle sticks. Check out the collage below to see how it’s done.

4. Glue buttons on the front sides for noses. If you are making Rudolph and Clarice, use red for Rudolph’s nose and black for Clarice’s nose. Glue on sensitive eyes.
5. Attach the glitter tape to the bottom of the popsicle sticks, going a little towards the back. Place the bell on a small piece of string or ribbon and attach it to the bottom of the popsicle sticks on the back. Finish by gluing some glitter tape to the back. Check out the collage below to see how it’s done.
6. Cut a rectangle from red card and cover with red glitter tape. Cut out a bow shape. Attach a bow to one of the deer (optional). Use a white paint pen to add polka dots to the bow. You can use a different color if you want.
Attach string or ribbon to the back of the popsicle sticks to hang from the tree. Tada! Your reindeer ornament is ready to hang or give to someone. We recommend waiting a day or two before hanging or gifting them to give the glue enough time to set.

To craft your own Popsicle Stick Reindeer, you’ll need some simple kid craft supplies. Make this cute holiday craft at home with these supplies:
The first step in making your own popsicle stick deer is to create your deer face. Line up the four large popsicle sticks until the bottom of the sticks are just right. Then cut a small ice cream stick in half. Glue the top of a row of large popsicle sticks. And stick the other half under the big popsicle sticks. These smaller sticks will hold the larger sticks in place while you put the rest of your deer art together.
When the glue dries, you can start painting your reindeer craft. Use brown paint to paint popsicle sticks and clothespins. Add layers of paint until the wood is completely covered. Then, let the paint dry completely before you start decorating your popsicle stick deer.

Now that your brown paint is dry, you can start creating the Popsicle Stick Reindeer! Begin by clipping each of the clothespins to the top of the popsicle stick face. These pieces of cloth will be the antlers of your deer. After attaching the clothespins to the craft, cut two brown pipe cleaners in half and twist each end over the top of the clothespin. Bend the ends of the pipe cleaners slightly to create antlers for your popsicle stick reindeer.
Next, add a face to your reindeer by gluing two googly eyes onto brown popsicle sticks. Place a large red pom pom under your eyes to make your reindeer nose.
Complete your art by drawing a smiling mouth under your reindeer’s nose. We used a black paint marker to draw the muzzle of our reindeer craft, but you can also use a black marker or black paint.
