Is a story based on a popular parable. This little sheep goes missing, so the shepherd leaves his flock to find him. It is a wonderful story to remind children that they are loved and cared for even when they are lost.
Besides the wonderful story, I fell in love with the beautiful illustrations! You can feel the emotion from the pictures on every page.
We made a paper sheep plate to go with this sweet book. This is such a fun and easy craft for spring!

To make paper plate sheep you only need a few supplies. Here is a list of the accessories we used. It should come as no surprise that I picked up most of these items at the Dollar Tree.
We started this craft by spraying glue over the paper plate. Then just put the cotton balls on the glue.
There is no special way to do this! That’s what makes this craft great for kids of all ages. Even babies can enjoy smashing the cotton balls in the glue.
When the cotton balls are on the paper plate, cut sheep’s face, ears and legs from black paper. I just cut a large oval shape for the head, two smaller ovals for the ears and two long rectangles for the legs.

Once these pieces are in place, it’s time to glue the googly eyes. This sheep craft is SO cute! It was a fun craft to go with the book

Paint two paper plates gray and let dry completely. One sheet of paper is for the face of the sheep and the other sheet of paper is for cutting out the ears of the sheep.
If you don’t want to paint two sheets of paper, you can use matching gray cardboard or construction paper instead.
Glue the sheep’s ears to the back of the sheep’s fleece. Place the finished fluff in the ears and use the double-sided tape to attach it to the top of the sheep paper sheet.
We used double sided tape because it’s lighter, sticks better to the painted board and has no drying time!

If you are doing this craft with babies or young children who may not have the attention span needed to do the original craft, don’t worry!
First, we suggest you skip the color. Instead, buy some gray or black paper plates from the dollar store. If you do this instead, you don’t have to worry about staining or waiting for the paint to dry completely before proceeding.
You can also skip the cheeks if you need a step less! The little details are nice, but it’s not 100% necessary.
Finally, we recommend that you cut out all the pieces before assembling the children. Small children can be a little impatient if you don’t have all the accessories ready to glue together!

Now stick the cotton ball onto the paper plate and repeat until the inner plate is covered and fluffy. This creates the body of the sheep.
Apply glue to the edges of the plate, then create a circle of cotton balls on the outside of the edge. Let the plate dry.
While the cotton balls are drying on your paper plate craft, draw a circle on black cardstock or construction paper and cut out the front for your sheep craft.
