As a family, choose neighbors to be especially grateful for this year. Do something nice for this neighbor by keeping your family plans a secret this month. You can visit them. You can leave small gifts or presents and you can write notes on how you appreciate them. They can bring in the trash that weekend. Try not to get caught.

Devany, who is still in school, loves the idea, based on the advice of a modest mom. Quite simply, it can be done as a family or as a child. Basically, set a goal for how many times your child is going to say thank you this month, and keep tracking it. It’s fun because your kids are still practicing fixed numbers…but they’re still impressed with how well they did.

Make a paper chain. On each piece of paper, write the name of the person you want to thank. Then choose a name from that chain each day. Do something nice for that person. Thank them; it can be as simple as calling them to add a card or even baking for them.

We’ve all seen gratitude trees on Pinterest. they are very good. But if you want to take it to the next level, please do it willingly. It can be installed on the door of any bedroom in your home. Throughout the month, anyone can put a thank you note on that door to show why they appreciate that person.

You can only do this once per neighbor, not once a month. Leave a tree (or turkey) by their door and thank them with leaves (or feathers).

If you know me, you know that I am a huge fan of thank you cards. They’re so simple, yet they can make a difference in someone’s day. Set a goal to send 5 thank you cards with your child this month. It will be interesting to see who they want to thank and what they decide to decorate the card with.

Whatever you do, be sure to reinforce your child’s acts of kindness. A great way my friend Kim does this with her son is by printing out handouts for everyone she helps that month. This way he can better understand the impact on the community.

Have your child draw something they are thankful for. If you’re anything like me, you can’t get enough baby photos. I love ’em, so why not add them to your November ‘look’?

Just add a curl of leaves to the squash stem. You can write down one to five things that you are grateful for. Leave it so you can see it from time to time.

As a family, write gratitude around the pumpkin. It’s especially fun to do once a week or every night. You may appreciate your child saying thank you.

Countless volunteers helped out that day. Some helped dispose of the wreckage, others remained unknown. You can volunteer (even for a short time) to help any cause or organization you are passionate about. It’s that easy to even volunteer for your kids.
