Hello producer! I’m Jennifer from crochet to play. My company name tells you a little bit about my design perspective – I love the idea of dreaming that kids can play from crochet projects. Mostly, that means I make fun amigurumi toys. There’s something especially cute about handmade toys.
When I first started crocheting, I didn’t start with toys at all! I learned some basics about crafting from my mom and grandmother, but my interest didn’t wane until I had my first child. All these maternal instincts came into play, and I wanted to be able to make her stuff with my hands. I have a friend who knits, but it seemed too intimidating so I decided to do a home hand crochet. I walked right in and looked up about 15 how-to guides and boilerplate books from the public library. I “studied” crochet as a student and learned to read stitches and patterns together. Once I started hooking, I never stopped. I love and still love the satisfaction of using my personality to make myself something.

The pattern I am sharing with you today is Penguin Peppers. Chili peppers are the perfect stocking stuffer for cuddling or making new friends. I hope you like it!
Yarn – worsted weight yarn in black, white, yellow, light blue and red. I used Ricoh Creative Cotton Aran in black, white, ice blue, cherry and sand (less than 50g each)
Invdec – Invisible reduction (alternative to sc2tog stitches). To invdec, insert your hook into the front loop of the specified st, then insert your hook into the front loop of the next st. Your hook is now inserted into the front loop of the two stitches you want to reduce to one stitch. Lift the thread up and through the two loops, then lift the thread up and pull it through the two loops on the hook.
