To make a birthday card, first print out a pop-up template, cut and fold it along the specified lines. After that, choose a piece of thick cardboard that is slightly larger than the model, press them together and fold them in half along the edges of the model. Then cut along the template lines to create your pop-up shape. Finally, take the cardboard, glue the bottom of the product to the folded side of the card, and then glue the top of the shape together so that it swells when the card is opened. Read on if you want to learn how to add a ring to your opening card! After preparing several times and asked the man “Hey, does this look like a girl yet?” and I got a firm “Yes” I finally settled on a cover design that is beautiful and is universal for all of us, wow!

UPDATE: I’ve created new printable Happy Birthday and Mother’s Day cards that are easy and fail-safe! Tutorial here!

Start with 5-inch squares of paper. You can print and cut from our free downloads at the end, or use these 6 inch square origami papers, which come in many colors, or these.

Fold the 5-inch square into quarters. Now we have a small square. Fold the small square diagonally to form a triangle. Make sure the petal design is visible when you fold and cut out the petal shape. Not sure if you got it? Check out the quick video tutorial below!

Open the paper and you will see a flower with 8 points which is flat. Cut one petal from the flower, overlap and glue the 2 petals next to each other to form six three-dimensional petals. Make 6 more flowers with other squares.

Start with petal A: attach petals B and C to A so that each one overlaps the petal of A as shown below.

Then glue flower D to A, B and C with a drop of glue on each as shown below and in the video.

Glue flowers E and F on the stack so they come with B and C. IMPORTANT: when gluing flowers E and F to B, C and D, apply glue only to the flowers marked with an “x” at the top of the picture.

Add flower G to the top, connecting D. Place a small amount of glue on each flower marked with an “x” as shown below.

Optional: cut leaves from green paper and glue them to the flowers. You can use mixed construction paper or this cute card stock in various shades of green.

Check if you got it right: petals A, D and G are in the center and aligned, and petals B, C, E and F are attached evenly to the edges.

You can create your own design or print the free birthday card (download at the end) on 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock. Fold it in half.

Place a bunch of glued flowers inside the card as shown in the picture. Put just a little bit on the petal in the middle of flower A, close the card and press well. Open the card and repeat on the other side of the card with just a drop of glue for the petal in the center of the G flower.

I also made a blue flower set for a DIY Mother’s Day card here, which you can download and include with your handmade birthday card!

If you have problems downloading, send this message to your friends so they can download with your email! (Due to thousands of downloads on this site, we cannot send files to you personally by email, hope you understand! ???? ) Learn how to make an impossible card, whether you cut it by hand or with a cutting machine, using these simple card templates that is impossible.

Today I’m going to show you how to make what I call the POSSIBLE CARD, which is my shaker best friend. You may also hear this called a Hypercard, Illusion Card or Gap Card. I call it a simple open card! But I think it got the name “impossible” from the fact that it was impossible to do. If you look at the “impossible card” you will see a gap at the top and bottom, but not as big as to accommodate the “pop” part. Once again, the impossible card design is made from just ONE piece of paper. So how is it done?

So this is a bit of a con… it’s a twist card. An impossible card starts life as a piece of paper with two cutouts on each side and one up the middle. There is a dotted line in the middle. Now if you just turn the other side of the paper, the card will turn into a crazy shape. It’s easier to show than to explain, so watch the video to see!

Best Printable Folding Birthday Cards

These days, most people just cut out the impossible card by hand with scissors or a trimmer, but my readers asked if I would turn the impossible card template into an SVG file that they could upload to cutting machine like Cricut. So I have! In fact, I’ve made several different patterns and matches, all with different fabrics. The great thing about using a slicer is that the measurements are perfect every time!

Of course I couldn’t stop there… I designed a CUSTOM Impossible Card. And since I had so many birthday card requests, I made a really fun birthday card. It was modeled after the famous Las Vegas landmark. I made this for my dad who would have turned 75 in two weeks if he was still with us. I love you and miss you, Dad!

Many thanks to the many readers who requested this new card project (Kimberly B., Margaret B., Laurie, Nancy M., Jessica A., Patti S., Beth M., Sheila L., Sandra M., Vicki P. ). Every person who has contributed to this project concept has received additional advice.
