Flower Pots Designs For Painting – I’ve had this plain clay pot on my stand for over a month now and wanted to paint it before I planted anything inside, but couldn’t settle on anything.
I saw something similar online but I didn’t think I could draw all the cats the way they are. But in Eureka this morning, I thought, “What if I model a cat’s head?” And I have to go to work.

If you already have the clay pot you want to use but have a tree inside, I suggest you move it outside. It is certainly possible to do this with the plants inside, but many times I took my hand inside the pot, holding it upside down generously to draw some details.

Draw a simple cat’s head on a piece of cardboard or paper and cut it out with the scissors. If it looks like a little demon or Batman, don’t worry. When you draw your face, it will look like a cat. ๐
Hold the cat pattern (cat!) on the clay pot with your hands, don’t draw, then draw around it with a pencil. You can make a slightly lower part and a higher / shorter part. I didn’t do it around the planter because I knew I would put it on the shelf.
Now it’s time to mix some paint colors together. I decided to use monochrome – black and various shades of gray. It’s like drawing a bit of a line at this point. You really don’t want to make the same shade next to each other. At this point you will see that everything is starting to take shape!
Luckily, acrylic paint dries really fast, so you won’t have to wait long to get to the fun part. Details! Use black markers to draw some eyes and create some outlines around the cat shape. To make some difference, you can create some white eyes using the Q key and then create small black dots on top with markers.

Use different markers for different details – use sophisticated markers for whiskey and bold markers for outlines. Use pink markers for pink cheeks or a white Q-tip for some white cheeks. Dip the toothpick in white paint for black cat details like whiskey and forehead stripes. If you mess up any part, you can always paint the whole cat and start over. I had to do this several times. have fun! My husband asked me to hide inside an angry/naughty cat in the mix, so I drew an eyebrow in on a dark gray cat (in the second row from the right in the picture) three).
All that’s left to do now is move the plants into it. I just love how it turned out! I think it’s really cute. Although some of the cats are a bit messy (some of mine have some painted squinting eyes) you really don’t notice. I love how each of them look, even though they are starting to look the same. I will show you how the process works, give you some tips and share with you three special ideas for decorating flower pots! For more instructions, visit our painting and decorating pots.
Pots are readily available at craft stores, hardware/home improvement stores, garden centers, dollar trees and even stores like Target or Walmart in the seasonal section. Don’t forget to check out the shops and Goodwill too – you never know what you’ll find!
The selection at home improvement stores and garden centers seems to be the best, but I often just get mine from Michaels since they are big enough for me.
Please note that any of the following instructions and tips only apply to pots made of clay (clay). The same stores sell plastic or plastic pots (usually), but they are different materials, so the instructions are also different.

Before I share my three ideas for decorating flower pots, I want to tell you a few tips! Here are some tips to help you get started:
If you are getting a used crock pot, follow these instructions. You don’t need to do any prep work (apart from removing the label) if you buy a new pot. Just brush off any debris, if any, on the surface.
If you’re going to use Mod Podge to decorate your pot, you’ll definitely want to follow these steps to quench it first. Most of the clay pots found in stores are glassless and perforated – that is, waterproof.
Unopened or unsealed clay will draw moisture from the plants and soil by potentially retaining moisture, which can affect the exterior decoration by blistering the paint.

If you are using outdoor pots, you can use Outdoor Mod Podge as your sealer. If the area where you live is very rainy or sunny, choose a brush over a rubber band or something similar for extra protection. .
Polyurethane-based sealants provide maximum durability for outdoor projects and protect Mod Podge from blocking. Apply it 48 hours after you’re done, when the paint and Mod Podge (if you’re using it) are completely cured.
Regardless of the decorating method you choose, you will paint your pots and pans with a multi-surface paint in the color of your choice. The color does not fade outside the pot!
You will want to layer the pot until it is fully covered and leave to dry. Don’t forget to seal the inside based on the advice I gave you.

You will then proceed to the specific pot decorating techniques you wish to apply. Let’s start with Mod Podge.
This is an optional step, but it can make cutting the square fabric easier and prevent cracks. at the edge. Place the square fabric on the fridge or the wax paper and coat it with a layer of Mod Podge; Leave to dry.

The second option for decorating the pot is with washi tape. It is a paper film that can be applied to many surfaces. And I have an interesting way to show you how to use it!
You will turn your washi tape into a sticker. To do this, you need to tear a piece of paper from the refrigerator and place the washi tape on the shiny part (adjust the pattern if you want). Overlap the washi tape a little.
Cut your washi paste so it can slide into the punch. Then squeeze the shape – freezer paper is what makes this possible!

Use your fingernails to peel the washi tape off the fridge paper, creating a sticker. If you cover the washi tape enough, the sticker will not break. Paint over your pot and repeat with another color of washi tape.
Depending on the type of paint you use on your pot, the sticker will stick. But if for some reason you find them peeling – use your Mod Podge to cover up all the potential and turn it off. Very cute, isn’t it?
Using adhesive stencils is very easy. Place the template on the pot and smooth with your fingers.
Use a small sponger or dab to paint over the stained area, then immediately remove the stencil and leave it to dry.

Repeat with other designs and paint colors. You want to wash and dry your stripes between each coat so you can be sure the lines are clean. The great thing about adhesive stencils is that you can wash and dry them multiple times. They are reusable!
