It was shown on March 10-11, 1962 and was made using the image from the picture called The Blue Dove. Historically important, this painting is one of Picasso’s most famous pieces. Originally intended to announce the Congrès national du mouvement de la paix, held in Issy-Les-Moulineaux, France in March 1962, this impressive work features a well-drawn dove with an olive branch. Turning to the world-famous symbol of peace for inspiration, Picasso proves his ability to capture a great idea with a simple image. Seen in flight with outstretched wings, the artist’s dove calls to the higher goals of this meeting, which took place in the name of peace. Simple blue lines create the shape of a dove, which leads to an interesting and beautiful design. Picasso also included pigeons in his life, most notably by naming his fourth child ‘Paloma’ which is Spanish for ‘pigeon’. Although it was created more than 50 years ago, this piece still has an impact, which is the most important part of a timeless piece of art.

Pablo Picasso for a long time tried to leave politics. It was as if the first world war had passed, the artist escaped from the army and, unlike many of his friends, lived a quiet life during the war years. Everything changed when the Spanish Civil War broke out. Unable to touch the situation, Picasso, as usual, found solace in painting. And he created one of the strongest anti-war works in history – the big screen “Guernica” (1937).
Unexpectedly for everyone, and even himself, Picasso became a symbol of the struggle of intellectuals and artists with fascism. At the end of World War II, he joined the Communist Party and participated in peace congresses around the world for several years. In 1949, for the painting of the Paris Congress, Picasso created the first “Dove of Peace”. The meeting was opened on April 20, and in the evening the beloved artist, François Gillet, gave birth to a daughter, named Paloma (translated from the Spanish Paloma – “pigeon”).
