To draw the main flower, start by drawing a small circle in the center of the page to show the center of the flower. Next, draw a larger circle than the smaller one. Use the larger circle as a guide. Depending on the type of flower you are making, you can make the petals narrow or wide, or experiment with different shapes. To make the flower look more realistic, slightly change the length of the petals and overlap some of them. Next, draw down the back of the circle, starting at the small circle in the middle. Sketch the leaves branching out from the base of the stem. Add realistic details such as veins on the leaves and the fluffy texture of the buds and stamens in the center of the flower to complete the image. Trace the outline of your design with ink and erase any unwanted lines, such as the original outer circle you used as a guide for drawing the petals. If you want, you can paint your flowers or add a shade after you’re done. Once you’re comfortable drawing simple flowers, experiment with other types, such as daffodils, roses, or tulips.
