I fell in love with this baby pixie hat and couldn’t resist crocheting another one that I plan to donate to a local hospital. The pattern is suitable for those who are confident with basic crochet stitches and are willing to push yourself a little. Try it and I am sure your little one will be cute.
Lanoso Bebe Masal (4) -100% acrylic, 170 meters per 100 grams of skein. Color of your choice. Total 1 skein.
Newborn Pixie Hat Crochet Pattern
Rows 2-34: 1 ch, hdc, hdc blo 5, hdc, turn. Knit the first and last stitch in both loops, the other stitches are knitted only in the back loop

Row 1: 3 ch, sc across row. (52 sc: crochet at the end of each row as well as in the middle of each chain)
Row 2: ch 3, *skip next st, [dc, ch 2, dc] – in next st, skip next st, sc – repeat from * to end of row, turn
Row 3: 3 ch, 2 ch *[dc, 2 ch, d] – in sc in previous row, 2 ch – repeat from * to end of row, sc in ch, turn
Row 4: 3 ch, [dc, ch2, dc] – in the 2 ch space of row 2, *ch2, [dc, ch2, dc] – in the 2 ch space of row 2 – repeat from * to the end of the row, dc in tch, turn

Row 5: 3 ch, 2 ch, *[dc, 2 ch2, dc] – in 2 ch space in row 3, 2 ch – repeat from * to end of row, sc in ch, turn
Repeat rows 4-5 until the total number of rows equals 17 or 18 (20-22 cm from the edge)
Row 19: 1 ch, 2 sc in every 2 ch space. Go 2 rows under where necessary as you did in the main pattern to avoid large holes in the back of the hat.
Fold the hat in half and bring the two ends together. Cut the yarn and turn the hat right side out.
Easy Bonnet Crochet Pattern
Chain 60 (or 70). Pull the chain between the sc in the neck row, every 2-3 st. Pull the straps to fit your baby’s head perfectly.

Baby Bonnet Hat Free Crochet Patterns
The hat design is very simple… you just crochet a rectangle, fold it in half and then stitch the back together.
The table below shows you some common hood sizes for babies and toddlers up to 2 years:
EXAMPLE: If you want to make the bonnet for a 6 month old baby, start with a base chain that measures 6.75 inches and work until your piece measures 13.5 inches (fold the rectangle in half to give you have a height measurement of 6.75 inches).
Whatever size you decide to make, make sure you finish at the end of a row on the right side.

Free Pixie Bonnet Crochet Pattern

To achieve the correct size and fit, it is important to test the gauge with a test square before starting.
Sc – double crochet: Turn (yrow), insert the needle into the stitch, make a thread, pull a loop (3 loops on the hook). Yo, pull 2 loops (2 loops on the hook). Yo, pull the remaining 2 loops. 1 double crochet done.
Fasten off – To fasten securely, knit a chain, then cut the yarn leaving a 5 – 6” tail. Pull the tail through the loop on your hook. Tighten gently.
Long Tail Pixie Hat Crochet Pattern
RS – right side: The part of your work you want to show – the ‘good’ part.
Sc – single crochet: Insert the needle into the stitch, make a yarn over (cast), pull a loop (2 loops on the hook). Yo, pull both loops through the hook. 1 single crochet is finished.
Sc2tog – single crochet two together: Insert the needle into the stitch, yarn over (yo) pull up a loop (2 loops on the hook). Insert the hook into the following stitch, make a stitch, pull a loop (3 loops on the hook). Fold, pull all 3 loops. A sc2 train is completed.
Sl st – double crochet: Insert the needle into the stitch, make a yarn over, pull a loop, you will have 2 loops on the needle. Pull the first loop through the second loop. 1 tie stitch done.
Crochet Pixie Hat Pattern — Yarns
When you have completed row 29, with the hook and yarn still attached to your work, fold the rectangle so that the wrong side is now facing up:
Turn the hood out so that the right side is now showing and the seam is inside the hood:
To begin making the first band on the front of the bonnet, attach the yarn to the bottom right corner:
When you get down to the bottom of the first band, place the sc evenly along the front edge until you reach the left corner of the hood (I like to crochet 2 sc at each end of the sc row):

When you get to the second corner of the front of the hat, make your second tie by chaining 42:
When you go back under the second tie, you’ll shape the back of the hood by working sc2tog sts up to the first tie you made:
You can leave the little bonnet as is, or you can add a pom pom to the top corner of the hat and one under each tie.
