Jolly Santa Ho Ho Ho Hat

This hat is designed in antique dark and white colors for a vintage effect If you choose to do a bright red and white stripe, substitute another shade of Caron’s ‘Simple Soft’ line or another similar weight yarn and you’ll be good to go!

The newborn hat crochet pattern has three parts: the body, the band, and the pom pom You will tear it apart

A note about crocheting strips for this hat: Color changes are accomplished by simply dropping the color and hanging it until you need to pick it up again. To change colors, you complete the round and slip stitch in the old color, then use the new color for the double chain and start another round of double crochet in the new color. The transition will look weird on the outside as you work, but don’t worry You have to put everything in before collecting

Rows 16-27: Increase 3 double crochet stitches for each row You should have a total of 42 stitches on row 27

Crochet Newborn Santa Hat And Pants Pattern

Ch 7, begin scc in second ch end of scto row and turn Repeat until you have 42 rows Make sure you don’t twist it, fold it in half and use a pile stitch or whip stitch to sew the ends of your row together. You will use this yarn to attach the band to the body of the hat

Align the inside of the band with the bottom of the hat body as shown Join them together and tie a knot at the end Tap so the SIM is not visible

When I make this, I choose a thicker yarn for the pom pom because I like the way it looks on the long tail of the hat. You can use whatever you like 🙂

Cut a strip of (T) about 7-8 inches (T) Take the ball and wrap the thread securely (but not too tightly) around your wrist 25 times. Pull the yarn from the bottom of the yarn pile between your third and fourth fingers Pull it and shake it twice Tie it tight and keep your tie long – you’ll be attaching it to the hat to form your pom pom.

Take a long strand and cut it into a circle and make a pom pom shape Turn it on both sides and cut a bit (Learn more about making pom poms here.)

Find the magic loop you created at the beginning Slip your crochet hook under the magic loop between the six stitches you made. Pull out one of the long strands with your crochet hook Secure it with twine using your long yarn and then cut another length of yarn from your pom pom.
