The Glass Castle Read Aloud

The Glass Castle Read Aloud – My body is tbr big right now and it’s stressing me out so it’s time for some relaxation. After reading Elantris, I was thinking about what to read, and after looking at the shelf for about fifteen minutes, I decided that I wasn’t interested in many of the books on the shelf, and that was the problem. These have been sitting on my shelf for a long time and it’s time to move on. If I haven’t read them, I probably won’t. So let’s do a little spring cleaning.

I like memoirs, but mostly I like to listen to audiobooks. I personally bought The Glass Castle last year because I needed to read a memoir for a reading challenge. But I didn’t read it. I probably won’t. I’m still interested, but I’d rather listen to the audio.

I actually chose The Ex Hex because it was magical, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s romantic. I thought I could get into it, but after starting and dnfing three times I decided it wasn’t for me.

“Night Journey” sat on my shelf for an embarrassing amount of time. This is like the second monthly book box I’ve received. I know it’s a thriller, but I can’t remember what it’s about. I have no interest in reading.

I bought this because I love Daisy Jones and Six by the same author. But Malibu Rising just didn’t have the appeal that interested me. I’ve heard it’s an amazing book, but it’s not for me.

So these are the books I’ve decided to put in my spring cleaning book. Honestly, there may be more sessions to come. I want to make room for books that really interest me.

If you are interested in any of these, I have also added them to my PangoBooks store https://pangobooks.com/bookstore/. I still love PangoBooks. The Glass Witch Ebook By Lindsay Puckett

A remarkable, one-of-a-kind memoir by one of the world’s greatest storytellers, “simply spectacular” (Entertainment Weekly).

The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revealing look at a deeply dysfunctional and highly dynamic family. Upon awakening, Janet’s brilliant and charismatic father sparks the children’s imaginations, teaching them physics, geology and how to embrace life without fear. But when he drinks, he is dishonest and destructive. His mother was a free person who hated family life and did not want to take on the responsibility of a career.

The walls learned to take care of themselves. They fed and clothed each other, protected each other and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them and chose to be homeless, even though their children were successful.

The Glass Castle is truly amazing – a vividly loving memoir of a strange but loyal family.

The memoir was also turned into a major motion picture by Lionsgate in 2017, starring Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts.

I was sitting in the cab wondering if I was dressed for the night, when I looked out the window and saw my mom rummaging through the trash. It was just dark. The March wind howls through the steam vents, and people walk along the sidewalk with their collars up. I was stuck in traffic two blocks from the party.

Mom was standing fifteen feet away. With some rags tied around his shoulders to beat the spring chill, he was picking up the trash while his dog, a black and white terrier mix, played at his feet. Mom’s gestures are familiar: the way she tilts her head and sticks out her bottom lip as she scans the trash for valuables, the way her eyes widen when she finds something she likes. Full of children’s joy. Her long hair was gray and tangled and messy, and her eyes were sunken in, but she still reminded me of my mother as a child, swans leaping from cliffs and making noises in the desert. Draw and read Shakespeare aloud. His cheekbones were still high and firm, but his skin was chapped by the sun and wind of winter and summer. For passers-by, it might have been like the thousands of homeless people in New York.

I haven’t seen my mom in months and I’m terrified when she looks because she’ll see and call my name and someone will see us together on the way to the same party, mom, I’ll introduce myself, and my secret will be revealed.

I slid out of the seat and told the driver to turn around and take me to Park Avenue.

The taxi stopped in front of my building, the porter opened the door for me and the elevator took me to my floor. My husband works late, as he does most nights, and apart from the click of my heels on the polished wood floor, the apartment is quiet. Seeing my mother, meeting her by accident, and seeing her happily fall through the trash still bothered me. I put on some Vivaldi, hoping the music would calm me down.

I look around the room. I picked up turn-of-the-century bronze and silver vases at flea markets, as well as old books with worn leather spines. There are my framed map of Georgia, the Persian rug, and the upholstered leather armchair I love to sink into at the end of the day. I was trying to make a house here, trying to turn the apartment into a place where the person I wanted to live could live. But I’ll never be able to enjoy this room without worrying about mom and dad curled up on a grill somewhere on the sidewalk. I’m worried about them, but I’m also ashamed of them, and ashamed of wearing pearls and living on Park Avenue while my parents are busy keeping warm and looking for food.

What can i do I tried to help them many times, but dad would insist they didn’t need anything, and mom would ask for absurd things like perfume nebulizers or health club memberships. They say they live the life they want.

Wild Game: My Mother, Her Secret, And Me By Adrienne Brodeur

After I got into a taxi without my mother seeing me, I hated myself, hated my oldness, hated my clothes and hated my apartment. I had to do something, so I called a friend of my mom’s and left a message. This is our system for keeping in touch. Mom always takes a few days to get back to me, but when I hear from her, she’s as cheerful and casual as ever, as if we had lunch the day before. I told him
