Including a homemade card with a gift adds a personalized touch to any occasion. Graduation is no exception. Handmade cards are also great for wrapping gift cards and monetary gifts, perfect for graduation gifts.

I created 10 simple DIY graduation card designs with lots of classic messages and images. There are many ways to personalize graduation cards for the recipient’s schools and interests, with different color combinations and personalized details such as hobbies, passions and majors. Easy Diy Graduation Card Ideas

I have a post about the greeting card supplies and accessories that I use to create all of my graduation cards. This includes many of the items I mentioned here, such as paper, ink pads, and a paper trimmer. There are a few specific stamps that I use for my graduation cards, which I have mentioned below. I have also created several free printable templates to keep the card making process as easy and stress free as possible. I will link the patterns after each card.

Unless otherwise noted, I create all my greeting card templates for A2 size cards as that is the universal paper size. If you want prints or graphics for different paper sizes, let me know! I am happy to offer models in additional sizes.

I used The Stamps of Life clear graduation stamps for several cards. I am very happy with the variety and quality.

Please note that this only includes one stamp per number. So, if you are printing a year like 2022, you need to use the same stamp 2 for every 2 of the date. You can’t do the whole year 2022 on an acrylic block and print it at once.

Handmade Graduation Card

There are many designs in this set where I directly print an entire year at a time. It’s not difficult, it just takes a little more time. Practice on scrap paper before printing on your best paper stock.

I also used the happy graduation stamp from Hero Arts Celebrate Everyday Clear Stamps. I have used this set for many types of greeting cards. I know if you make a lot of cards, it will be worth buying for yourself.

You will need a set of acrylic blocks for these clear molds. They are a good investment for anyone serious about creating greeting cards, as most clear stamps are of better quality than commercial wood-mounted rubber stamps.

The other special supply I used for my handmade graduation greeting cards was a 1/4 inch star punch. It actually comes in a set with a 1/4 core punch. I know this sounds like kind of niche stuff. But I have used these punches for many homemade cards and other DIY projects. You will find yourself reaching them more often.

Free Printable Graduation Card By Love The Day

I usually save the most fiddly design for last. But I’m starting with a design that requires printing, tracing, and cutting out numbers, because it’s such a big concept.

Please note that one of the biggest ways I keep my greeting card designs simple and affordable is that I do not use dies or electronic cutters. But you can certainly do it for your numbers.

There are many ways to customize color schemes for this large number of cards. I created two versions with metals and one version with a popular school color scheme.

To tide you over for a while, I have free printable templates from 2022 to 2025.

Michigan State University Graduation Card — Half Mile Handmade

I strongly recommend printing the patterns on regular printer paper and tracing them on medium weight card stock. It is very easy to trace the numbers with the cardboard.

Use 1/2 inch foam mount squares for the numbers and cut them in half to fit any part of the numbers without showing.

“Oh, the places you’ll go” is such a timeless graduation card message. I like the ombre blue aesthetic for the words. If you are interested in the same color or a different ombre palette, let me know! I am happy to create additional templates.

I used a dark red layer behind the “Oh, the places you’ll go” and finished the design with small star punches in green, light blue and gold.

Graduation Party Card Box

I created the leaf background using two different stamps from one of my favorite stamp shops, ModernMakerStamps. Search for “olive branch” in their shop to see a similar stamp currently available. I love leaves and think they make great backgrounds for many types of cards. But you can easily change your background as you wish. Then I stamped “Happy Graduation” three times and adhered each one with a different scrapbook paper. I skimmed the “degree of happiness” messages.

I used three different sized star punches to create this graduation card design – the small punch I linked above, the approx 1/2″ star punch (I linked a similar one) and the 1 1/2 star punch “. You will need it. less than 1″ for a craft project. If you are using stars, I highly recommend using a punch, as it is much faster and less tedious. If you are using stars larger than 1”, you may prefer to use star templates.

To create a greeting card design like this, I punch out a handful of stars and arrange them on my card. From there, I decide if I want more stars or not and adjust the design accordingly.

“The rooster was worth the fight” is a little cheesy but very funny for a graduation card. I used my own font combination, which I linked below, and paired it with a green plaid background and a couple of printed graduation caps. I foam fitted the graduation caps. This is another greeting card design where you want to cut the foam mounds in half so they don’t show through the tassel.

Simple Handmade Graduation Card — Gerald & Joan

I absolutely love the vintage aesthetic for the “Class of” stamp that is part of my graduation stamp set. I called out “You did it!” Stamp from the same set and complete it with numbers, from the same set. As I said at the beginning of the post when I linked the stamps, the set includes only one of each number, because you have to add the year separately at the end. I recommend that you practice the printed unit on scrap paper before using your fine paper for the paper.

I finished off the card with a couple of foam stamped graduation caps and added ribbon borders to the top and bottom of the background card. 1/2″ wide tape or narrower works well here.

I wanted to create a design in this set that was perfect for graduation, but it didn’t have a happy graduation, a graduation year or school colors.

“Here’s Your Next Adventure” is perfect for many types of activities after graduation. I kept it simple with a bunch of big pine trees. You can easily customize the theme of this card for a specific recipient, for example, with a map or a specific activity. I added a couple of foam pins to give the design some dimension.

The Slimlock Medium Balloon Punch pairs perfectly with the numbers in my graduation stamp set. Of course, if you have different punches of balloons and / or numerical stamps you can adjust accordingly. You can also cut your balloons to fit a specific number of prints. I used balloons to say “Let’s party!” Stamp with the purple background layer that I foam attached to a yellow plaid background.

A graduation year swallowtail banner is another timeless beauty that never goes out of style. I used the swallowtail banner outline from Nizza PNG as my guide to cut out the banner and then the background banner piece. I finished the card with a blue plaid background and little gold stars.

I love the bunting attached to the look of the card. I used it first for a birthday card and now for a graduation card. Bunting is the only A7 card design in the card set. The numbers printed on the bunting are too large to fit on an A2 paper. I finished off the card with printed graduation caps and “Congratulations on Graduating!” message I added a foam bunting with graduation hats and “Congratulations on Graduating!” message
