Disney World Trip Planning Spreadsheet – Time to get geeky and talk about using a planner to plan your next Disney vacation! This will save you a lot of time, and you’ll know what to do and where to go when you’re at Disneyland…you’ll never have a dull “what should we do next?” moment.
I came across the publicly shared Google Doc [No Longer Available] by Gredel S. It’s a good starting point for getting started and filling out a schedule. Include a daily itinerary that includes which parks to visit and when and where to dine (including these receipts! The parks” (least crowded) go to each day. That’s the beauty of this chart – you can do it however you like. Add, delete, and edit it. (Click the table below for a larger image.)

If you keep everything on a sheet of paper, you can easily fold it and put it in a pocket or bag – plus you can print out extras to distribute to other members of the tour.
Trip Planning 101: Deciding When To Visit Walt Disney World
Creating a plan “forces” you to look at the park map and become familiar with the layout of each park. This is ultimately a really good thing because you’ll know where to go and you won’t be standing and looking at the map and get lost (which is a huge waste of time). It will also address the question of “Where should we eat?”
Plan ahead as much as possible, but don’t try to plan every minute of the day. Give some room to move. One attraction can take too long to wait – skip it and return to it if time permits. Also take the time to look at the details; watch “Street Fun”, find hidden Mickeys, talk to the cast… don’t rush to travel ~ you might miss something!
Are we sticking to our plan? no! If we see a restaurant we want to try more than we planned, we break the plan and go! On the last day, we also chose to visit other parks than we had planned. After all, these are just plans, and it’s okay to make changes.
Bottom line: Know ahead of time which park you want to go to, what attractions you want to see that day, and what you want to eat. Get the rest of your day “in”…look at the characters, enjoy other attractions/shows, and pay attention to details.

Access our version of the Disney Planning Program anytime via Google Docs. When using Google Docs, just go to File > Make a Copy, enter a new name, and you can edit it to your liking. If you want a clean start, here is a copy of the blank diagram. (Again, open in Google Docs, go to File > Make a copy and edit as needed. Don’t let me share it with you – giving other people edit rights will cause them to edit the original – how “make a copy” gets won’t affect others access rights.)
Update: On December 4, 2012, both Disney itineraries were updated and improved. Now they can also be downloaded as Word documents.

The world has changed a lot since this article was published. Along with that, Disney World has also changed a lot. At this time, not all information in this article is 100% accurate. We’re sticking with it because we’re sure Disney will get back to normal at some point. To compare what’s currently happening at the park, read this article here. Every vacation is different, so you may not need all my documents. Just print the ones that best suit your needs.
TIP: After filling out this Disney World planning sheet, especially the one-day planning sheet, take a photo of each sheet of paper. When you’re at the park, set a picture of the park you’re visiting as your phone’s lock screen. This way, you can easily see your plan for the day and save your phone battery. 🙂

As I fill out my itinerary, I have an idea for everyone on my party must-see list (with the help of the Walt Disney World Top 10 print).
Then I consult with expert travel plans, such as Easy WDW’s cheat sheet, TouringPlans.com, and Undercover Tourist’s travel plans. They’re a great place to start, but sometimes we’d rather skip the rides and shows. I tweaked these plans using a trip planning spreadsheet to create a plan that was perfect for our family.
