The original logo nicknamed “Pinball” featured the letters of the company name sliding in from the right. As they did so, the background color changed.

This version was followed by a series of logos based on the large letter “V” that dominated the screen. Then in 1990, the “Wigga-Wigga” animation was introduced, in which a silver “V” appeared from the lower left and became the name of the network. The “Wigga-Wigga II” crest adopted in 2000 had the same feature, but using slightly different effects.

Viacom’s original logo is a black wordmark made in small letters. The font used in the process uses lines of different sizes, rounded corners and soft shapes.

This version uses a new font. The wordmark starts with a capital letter and everyone started using serifs. Although there were still mostly soft shapes and rounded corners, the lines became more complete and standardized. There was also an emblem now – a long, upside down trapezoid with a white hook shape running down the middle.

Later, Viacom used a logo similar to the one it originally had. The letters have similar soft, flowing shapes and rounded corners. However, each is now further apart than the rest and is now all capitals.

We can’t go without mentioning the infamous animation that was used as Viacom’s logo from 1976-1986. Dubbed “V of Doom”, it had the fear factor ranging from high to nightmarish, which was a result of the lyrics, music and table-shaped zoom. The animation made you feel like the big ‘V’ would eventually come out of the screen and hit you.

Viacomcbs Announces Partnership With Wattpad To Adapt Originals

The logo is based on the word “Viacom” in the same font as the 2005 version. Large white letters appear one by one on a black background.

The 2005 logo features simple yet unique fonts. The most characteristic of these is perhaps ‘a’, which lacks the normal right ending. Viacom began as CBS Television Film Sales in 1952, was renamed CBS Films in 1958, and was again renamed CBS Enterprises Inc. in 1968. It would later be renamed Viacom in 1971. This logo uses the Peignot typeface (the same typeface used on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which was parodied by them at the time) and was called the “Pinball” logo because of its generated electronically. sound described by many as similar to the sound of a pinball machine.

In 1976, the first variation of this logo was called the “V of Doom” due to its appearance as disturbing to many viewers. “V of Doom” became the first logo to receive a “Nightmare” rating on the CLG Wiki (now AVID), with the “fear factor” now being “Medium to Nightmare”. Eventually, in 1986, the V of Doom logo was replaced by a much more subdued variant, nicknamed V of Happiness and V of Steel.

On January 1, 1990, for the first time in 13 years, the stylized “V” was retired in favor of a new logo. The logo was named the “Wigga Wigga” logo. The logo was designed by design firm Chermayeff & Geismar, which has also designed for NBC, PBS, Showtime, Univision, WGBH and Screen Gems, among others. It was used for the Paramount Pictures logo until 2010, even after the new Viacom logo was introduced.

The original Viacom was decommissioned on December 31, 2005.
