Butterfly Handprint – This fingerprint butterfly craft is great for kids! It’s a colorful butterfly handprint decorated with jewels, pipe cleaners and paper! This is a great preschool craft and activity for older kids!
This printable kids craft is a colorful activity that will keep kids busy and celebrate spring and summer. This fingerprint card uses several different textures and is such a fun introductory craft for preschoolers, but also fun for older kids. We like to use several different craft materials when working on our kids’ crafts. The more structure you can add to your child’s project, the better! Little hands learn to make fingerprints, stick stones on butterfly “wings” and draw smiles. Add a delicate touch with the antennas, which play shine with different components.
Butterfly Handprint
You only need a few basic craft supplies to get started! We added gems to our butterflies to add color and fun, but if you don’t have any, feel free! You can find stones at your local craft store, Walmart, or some dollar stores.

Enjoy making beautiful butterflies with your children. Fingerprints and Footprints by following our simple instructions and tips.
Children can draw and decorate a beautiful butterfly made with their own hands and feet. Butterfly crafts are perfect to do with your kids in the spring, add crafts to an insect unit, or turn them into a Mother’s Day card.
So, one of the best parts about making hand and footprint crafts is its shyness. When I was getting ready to share this craft, I couldn’t find pictures of the kids and couldn’t share this post without them. I searched through my SD cards full of thousands of pictures until I finally found them and their smiles said it all – this craft is so much fun, see – blurry picture and all.
Now I know some people are nervous about painting all over the place, but I’ve found that if you have a pack of baby wipes in your craft kit, these types of activities are much more manageable. As soon as my kids are done printing, they grab a broom and start sweeping the house before they move.

Cover the child’s hand with paint and gently press it onto the white craft paper. I use my hand to cover their hand so it doesn’t move and make sure all parts of their hand are in contact with the paper. Repeat with the other hand, 2 prints for each hand (4 prints in total).
Cover the child’s foot with paint and gently press it onto the white craft paper. Leave the fingerprints and footprints to dry.
Cut them to look like butterfly wings with two fingerprints on each side. Stick them on colored paper.
How To Make Handprint Butterflies (with Pictures)
Glue the footprint to the top of the wings to make the body of the butterfly. To create the butterfly’s head, the footprint medicine should be on top of the wing.
Cut a piece of pipe cleaner, fold it into a V shape, and glue (or glue) it to the butterfly.
We added jewels, fluttery eyes, and Tiger used a permanent marker to give his butterfly more detail.
I remember my dad telling me that every craft has a good stopping point, and sometimes he thinks I’ve gone past it by adding too much to my creativity. I understand what she’s saying, but I love watching Little Tigger come up with her designs and listening to her explain what her imagination is. By giving her a pencil and creative freedom, she can explore her artistic side and personalize her work. Even if it’s just a hand and footprint stamping craft, you can still find ways for kids to experience the magic of artistic creativity.

Fun Handprint Crafts For Kids From A To Z
Nothing is more beautiful than a fingerprint! These fingerprint butterflies are just as adorable as any other fingerprint.
Let them be creative in choosing the butterfly’s color scheme, decorating it and deciding who to give it to.
Hold one of these butterflies yourself so you can remember how small their hands were when they were growing up! A treasure that is kept forever.
The first step is to trace the child’s fingerprints on colored cardboard. You will need a total of four fingerprints.
Easy Butterfly Hand Project
Place the handprints together in a wing shape on a piece of gray cardstock or another color such as blue. Whatever color you choose or whatever your child chooses will work well!
Next, cut two very thin strips of card stock the same color as the hands. Those will be the antennas.
Glue these two pieces of paper on top of the rectangular antenna strip. Twist the ends of the antenna with your fingers.
Now punch the circles using different sized punches. We used the same color as the tape and another color. But be creative!
