Music Eighth Note Diy Cookie Wall Craft Stencil
About Color Bleeding: Even with a properly loaded roller and proper technique, you may get a little color bleeding here and there. In most cases it is not noticeable, especially at a distance of several meters, and can be easily touched with a small brush. Remember that you are creating a “hand painted wall finish”. A few blemishes and paint bleeds here and there are natural and unavoidable for this type of work. To minimize seepage, use spray adhesive and less paint on your roller and brush.
Stencils on rough or textured walls can contribute to increased paint bleeding. For more information on stenciling on textured walls, see our F.A.Q. section.
Did you know you can stencil your own fabric and use it for curtains, tablecloths, pillows, etc. ? When stenciling on fabric, please use stencil glue to ensure good results. First, stick your iron-on fabric to the surface so it doesn’t move while you stencil. You’ll get best results with stencil brushes, but sometimes a roller can also work, depending on your fabric. Add textile medium (sold at craft stores) to your acrylic paint. You can also get specially formulated fabric paint, but frankly, a good acrylic paint with a tube of mixed fabric medium works just as well and costs a lot less! 🙂 Let the stencil image dry completely, preferably 24 hours, then heat fix it by ironing the fabric for about 20-30 seconds on low heat through the piece of fabric. The heat setting will harden the color and prevent it from washing out in the washing machine. Always start by trying on a sample of your fabric to ensure good results. We have stencilled silk, cotton, linen and even loose fabrics with excellent results. It’s always best if your fabric isn’t too textured.
