What better way to show your support for your favorite team than to create and customize your own American football helmet? You’ll be beaming with pride when you’re done, and you’re guaranteed to show up at the tailgate party. This perfect mask construction would be a great family activity.

Our hats and helmets fit well on human heads (if exercised regularly and in a good mood). Some of our hats and helmets can be customized with an internal headband included in the template, while others simply do the job themselves and use your head as a kind of structure or landing pad. We hope you enjoy creating and training them using them.

Templates and instructions are provided as PDFs available for download as soon as you complete your purchase, so there’s no waiting in the mail. Simply download the PDF and print the templates on a regular printer or copy paper. Just glue the paper onto the card you want and you are ready to create. We’ve laid out the templates so they’re fully compatible with both A4 and US letter paper. You also get instructions for a simple headband to keep the mask securely in place. All of our templates are built using a tab-based construction method. Please note that you are only purchasing templates and instructions, so you will also need access to a printer, paper, card, tape or glue, and scissors.

What makes our masks unique? You may have noticed that our mask has very few facets or surfaces. It is called a low multiple. It’s the low poly count and some clever construction that makes our meshes quick, easy and fun to create. Making things should be enjoyable, so when making your mask, think of the process as relaxing and therapeutic. We provide our templates simple, so you can make your creation unique by decorating and coloring your mask the way you like. Try colored maps, paint and markers, or glue on patterned paper or fabric. We believe in minimizing our environmental impact, so the masks are designed to be made from recycled or locally sourced card. Old packaging boxes work well. We find that empty cereal boxes are perfect, but you can also use 300gsm card purchased from a local craft store. After printing the templates on paper, glue them to the card, cut them out, match the numbers and assemble the pieces. Why not make masks with your kids? The templates are scaled to fit adults, but you can easily make children’s masks by scaling the templates when printing, check out our FAQ on our “How To” page for details.

I live in the UK and I believe that shipping a large fragile item to the US for example would be prohibitive, not to mention the hassle and environmental impact.

The original idea was to create a low-impact alternative to store-bought masks. The instructions and templates are designed to be easy to follow, so the mask can be assembled by anyone, using local materials and eliminating the need for shipping. Also, turning wasteful 2D material into a 3D mesh is very satisfying.

I’m in the US where letter size paper is easier to come by than A4. Are any of your plans in the offing, or can I print on the letter? The letter is slightly wider and slightly smaller than A4.

The templates are fully compatible with both A4 and US letter paper. The templates are 1:1 scale and are intended to be printed actual size on A4 paper (210mm X 297mm) or US letter paper (8½” X 11″). Select the type of paper you are printing on in the printer settings
