Every year for Valentine’s Day, my kids love to make homemade cards for everyone in their lives. They will take a heart template and trace a heart shape from different colored paper. Then they will glue the hearts into different card shapes. You can make cards in the shape of squares, triangles, hearts, anything!

When the heart is dry on the card, he will paint it, or write a message on it to the person receiving the card. People love to receive homemade Valentine’s Day cards.

For our “Valentines Anytime” cards, we wrote summer themed messages like “You’re Berry Sweet” or “You’re My Sunshine” on them.

Create love notes with heart designs to put in your partner’s lunch box, put on your child’s door, or leave in a hidden place for your loved ones to find.

A great idea is to write love notes on your cut out heart and then tape it to your child’s door. They will be excited to see these notes made just for them.

You can also stick love notes on a piece of decorative cardboard. Ask your family and friends to write special messages to the recipient of the love board. This would also be a great idea for students to make for their favorite teacher!

Free Printable Large Heart Shape Templates

A heart garland is an easy way to make a room more festive. You can do this project in less than an hour. I recommend using felt for the heart in this project. Felt gives good weight to the wreath, the material is inexpensive, and you can use the scraps for many other fun projects.

To make a wreath, gather a piece of string or yarn, a pen, some scissors and fabric glue.

Cut out the heart shape and trace the shape onto the felt with your pen. Take fabric glue and apply it to one side of your felt shaped heart. Place the hearts down a length of string, one on each side, and then place them together. Make sure you squeeze the heart firmly.

Hang the wreath after it dries. You can hang it in a place that will surprise your sweet tooth. Be creative! Your Valentine or Galentine will love this adorable garland.

For these projects, you will use a heart shape as a stencil. Find the fabric of your choice and cut it out. Let your imagination guide you!

Print your heart shape. Cut out your heart shape, and then use it as a template for your pictures. You can make a heart cutout and then place it around the photo as a frame. Paste your heart shape on your picture.

In addition, you can also use the heart template as a stencil for your photos. Trace your heart shape onto your picture and cut out the picture. Frame this photo and give it to your loved ones.

Use heart templates with messages on them as cake toppers. For this project you will need a heart template cutout, glue and toothpicks.

Print your templates. Cut a template and the side of the blank the same size as your heart template.

Making personalized heart gift tags for candy bags or other candy gifts is a great way to create a unique gift.

Heart Pop Art For Kids

As a fairly frugal person, I really don’t like paying good money for something you can get for free online.

Every year I have a new need for heart craft templates – when my kids were little, we made a lot of colorful ones.

Now that they’re older, they need heart cutouts for things like sewing patterns and cute binder covers.

My 11-year-old says she likes to use them as bedroom door decorations and homemade heart-shaped Valentine’s Day cards for her friends.

I designed this because I always have a hard time finding the perfect round heart stencil for my projects.

Now I don’t have to search the internet the next time I need a heart pattern.
